The meeting of experts from national reference laboratories of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway and Ukraine in mycology will bring together 37 experts from 18 countries (Switzerland, Ukraine, Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Poland, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain).

The aim of the meeting is to exchange information on new pathogenic fungi, diseases of vegetables and ornamental plants, diseases of trees, scientific research, and findings identified by Member States' laboratory experts. The meeting will include presentation sessions on fungal diseases of plants, the biology of pathogenic fungi, testing methods, identification, scientific research, etc.

Latvia will be represented at the meeting by mycologists from the National Phytosanitary Laboratory of the State Plant Protection Service, as well as researchers from the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava".

A representative from the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO) will also attend the meeting and provide information on current developments in mycology at the EPPO.

On 14 May, the participants will visit the Ķemeri National Park bog trails.

Mycological meetings of this kind are an annual event in which Latvia has participated since 2011. The meeting is organised each year by a Member State.
